Ok, so we haven't had the pleasure of having a grill around for the past four years. Apparently it's a fire hazard and you can't have one in Westminster if you live in apartments. That doesn't stop many people but we were good and didn't bring ours to our apartment. Well, yesterday I finally cleaned out all the grass and bugs and a huge wasp nest that had deposited themselves in our grill while it sat at Trav's parent's house. I got it all set up and was so excited! We were going to have burgers and hot dogs for dinner! A nice easy dinner and everyone would eat!
Let's just say I was out of practice. First, I got the timing completely off and the fries were finished before anything else and there is really nothing worse than cold crinkle fries. Then, as I was flipping one of the burgers it hit the higher rack and slipped through the grill on to the flames below! I was so mad! Ok, so I dropped one. I'll live. Well, Spencer called and I was talking and trying to flip the burgers again and wouldn't you know it, I dropped another one down onto the flames. It was very depressing. I fully gave up control of the grilling and went inside to hang out with Maryn and try to heat up the fries without ruining them. Travis took over and the had no problems. I did manage to char the hot dogs pretty well but Cayden still ate two which is a good thing!
So, it wasn't my night to do well on grilling! Maybe tonight I'll try chicken!

haha! I grilled chicken and potatoes tonight and totally burned the chicken. Good thing we have a puppy that eats ANYTHING! ;)
Don't feel bad Jen. I don't have the excuse of not grilling in a long time to explain my grilling skills. I tend to forget about the meat and the burgers turn into hockey pucks! The only way I don't burn the stuff is if I stay outside the whole time! I'm sure you'll do better! Good luck with the chicken!
I am so glad that you are moved in, and don't worry I don't even know how to use the grill. We will have to get together soon
love ya
Diane
