Saturday was the Pinewood Derby! This year we got to participate with the Stake and they had the high tech track with speed and all the bells and whistles! It was a lot of fun and they even had a track for matchbox cars for the younger kids! That kept the other 4 kids pretty busy during the races!
Our boys were quite quick in their responses to who was next up to race so we got to a LOT of racing! Here are the pictures from one of Ethan's races.
Unfortunately Ethan did not have good luck and didn't win any races. He came in 3rd a couple of times but for some reason, his car was kinda slow! He did get the award for Best Classic Car Design though! It was a good looking car and he did it all himself!
We did have a couple problems with his car though so I will attribute the slowness to our lack of experience in making the cars. Hopefully we will do better next year and maybe even win some! Any suggestions or tips would be great!
Such a good looking scout!!

Ok, I am far from knowing really anything about Pine Wood Derby cars but I always remember my dad and brothers sanding the tires, nails and then graphiting them.
very good tip! Thanks! ;)

Grandpa Tim and Bart would always sand and polish the axels and make sure the holes for the axels are perfectly square to the car. I found this article. When is his next race?
